Art: Salvom Lavisse [The Eagle]
Aug. 4th, 2013 10:30 pmArt for the second round of the
ninth_eagle fanmedia challenge, this time using the picture of the strigil as a flimsy excuse to draw Esca and Marcus at the baths, with not a single actual strigil in sight.

( Salvom Lavisse - A bath is good for you! )
I tried to vary my style a little with this - forcing myself to not fuss about getting facial likeness 100% right (agh, stylised faces? SO MUCH HARDER than it looks, I suck at it) and trying to keep everything quite loose and rough when my natural inclination is to go over ever inch cleaning up messy brush strokes. My fingers are still twitching with the desire to go back and spend forever neatening it, but opinions on whether it works or not are most welcome!
My favourite part to draw turned out to be the mosaic, which is of course nicked from this one from the Roman baths in Bath. And now I am thinking I've done this all wrong and the entire picture should be one giant Roman mosaic, how awesome would that be...
