motetusThe wife and I have Shiny New Things! Which we really should have claimed were presents for our first wedding anniversary next week so we look slightly romantic, but no, they were more "well, it would be boring to put all of this bonus into the house deposit fund"... and also we had both forgotten it was coming up until his mother reminded us yesterday. WORST COUPLE EVER. He has an iPad (okay, I must admit I am a little jealous of all the fancy things it can do, but I stick by my opinion that they are stupidly overpriced) and I have a Kindle. I LOVE IT. Really Amazon, if your TV adverts had less girls in summer dresses reading it and more mentioning the free global 3G and ability to stick fanfic on it, I would have bought one ages ago.
How many books do I have on it so far? 0. How many Eagle fics? 52 and counting. PRIORITIES, I GOT THEM RIGHT. Now to get working on all that lovely Inception fic that was recommended to me, my favourite SW fic, and maybe go hunt down some XMFC fic. Aww yeah, now I can read smut on the bus, in the lab, EVERYWHERE.
(yeah yeah, I will eventually get proper books on it too. Given the rate I'm going through Penguin Classics books which as ebooks are free, it'll probably end up saving me a lot of money)

carmarthen: HELP ME THINK OF LESS STUPID NAME) is going awesomely and I am rather stunned by how it's turning out despite me really struggling with the initial sketch and a severe lack of references (yay, I am not using them as a crutch as much as I used to!). I don't want to spoil the scene it's for so I won't put up a WIP, so instead here's two REALLY rough sketches for stuff I want to draw afterwards. And by really rough, I mean if you manage to work out what on earth it's going to be, you deserve a medal.

I AM VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS ONE. WHO ELSE IS? You should be, I think it will be fabulous, assuming I can fix St. John's expression when painting so he doesn't look as if he's taking tea with his sisters. And yes, there are sodding blankets again, but this time I was sensible and collected lots of references. Actually, I really wanted to draw them in their lovely Victorian outfits because cravats and army uniforms are sexy, so there will definitely be another illustration in the future.
Happy Gay Modern Farmers II sketch that I hammered out last night while having a very serious discussion withainsoph15 about their tea mugs and Marcus's knitting habits. I very nearly didn't post this thing I because IT IS SO BAD AND ROUGH and seriously needs cleaning up, but I thought you guys might find it amusing to see how crappy my stuff always starts off. Ignore the faces, they are so wrong - actually, ignore everything. I DO NOT KNOW WHY I AM POSTING IT. But I was thinking of turning it into a massive multi-part tutorial so you'd see this stage anyway - um, maybe I should call it a walkthrough rather than tutorial because I do not always do things the sensible proper way and people really shouldn't use me to learn how to draw. But there will be lots of waffling about Photoshop functions because a few people have mentioned to me that they find it hard to master, so if there's anything in particular anyone wants to know about, tell me!
There will be lots of domestic shit on the table like teapots and Marcus's knitting, and lots of fiddly background kitcheny stuff. And a cat. God, I have no clue where the cat is going to go. Expect to see a weepy post about how I suck at perspective once I return to this.
And yes, those jumpers they are wearing were knitted by Marcus.
