Now Sutcliff Swap authors and artists have been revealed, here's what I did - yes yes, like it wasn't blatantly obvious which one was mine! I drew The Shining Company fanart of Prosper/Conn/Luned for [livejournal.com profile] carmarthen - completely fluffy, G-rated OT3 with Gelert the failhound looking very perplexed about why the silly humans have their hands all over each other and not petting him.

From one of my favourite parts of the book, which sort of inspired this:

For a moment I thought she was going to do one of her silvery minnow changes of the subject. But then she left the laughter behind and said quite seriously, 'No, I did not want, I do not want, anything that breaks up the three of us being together.'

'Since Father does not want you for Owain, maybe he has it in mind to marry you to me,' I said chewing on my grass stem. 'That would keep the three of us together.'

Luned had returned to watching the hawthorn mouse in Conn's hands. She said, 'Yes, I could marry you or -' She checked, and a wave of colour flowed up from the neck of her tunic to the roots of her hair, and ebbed away leaving her creamy pale. 'I could marry you, and that would keep the three of us together.'

This turned out a lot more simple than I usually prefer due to last month being stupidly busy with RL and other fandom commitments (next time Zoe, try not to sign up for ALL THE THINGS AT ONCE), but overall I'm not too unhappy with how it turned out - I managed to get Prosper, Conn and Luned looking how at least *I* imagined them in my head (something I'm still struggling with when it comes to Cottia). Er... I hope they're not too far off what other people pictured!

So, originally I wanted to draw a post-book scene of Conn, Luned and Prosper in Constantinople because happy reunion in my favourite city ever with the Hagia Sophia in the background! And then I realised how much research I'd have to do for 7th Century Constantinople, and figured that massive amounts of research in a short amount of time + my inability to draw cityscapes would probably end up with me in floods of tears and defaulting. Maybe another time...
