Art: I'm a Mighty Pirate! [Inception]

For this year's first i_reversebang prompt, I dug up an old idea for a pirate AU where Arthur is rather excited about plundering the high seas and Eames is the unfortunate overgrown cabin boy. The original plan was to spend lots of time diligently researching pirate clothing and ship rigging and making everything as accurate as possible, but I just ended up replaying The Secret of Monkey Island instead. Good enough.

Many thanks go to marourin for all her help getting those splayed legs into position - without her, the groins would not look half as magnificent, and groins are perhaps the most important part of any piece of art.

And the story that goes along with it!

Title: A Sea Chantey of Sorts

Summary: Eames is marooned by the Captain of the ship he's been a part of, after breaking one of the rules of the pirate code. When he's looking for a way to make it back to civilization he's found by another crew. Now he has to deal with a new captain, a new ship, crew, and a new set of rules because that's just his luck.

Why thank you! My brain might not be good at many things, but it does try its very best when it comes to pirates. Pirates and baby animals dressed as ancient Romans.

Aw, thank you! :D thir expressions were pretty much what my idea started off as - Arthur being totally into this pirating thing and Eames looking a little bit worried by his ridiculous level of excitement - possibly because I think there should be more fanart where Arthur gets to be the flamboyant, fancily-dressed one and Eames the exasperated one.

Love it! I love the color of Arthur's magnificent jacket, his spiffy hat and neck ruff, and his incredibly pleased expression at pirating. Eames also looks fabulous barefoot and barechested in those colorful pants, swabbing the deck and staring at Arthur's crotch. The tentacle tattoo is still my favorite.

And as always, the background is fabulous. Love the little birds.

Man, it made me so sad when I realised that although Arthur should be fabulously dressed, perhaps hoop earrings, ostrich feathers and a live parrot or monkey accessory was maybe going a little too far. And it would make Eames look awfully underdressed. Also, curse those baggy pirate pantaloons! How much better would Eames look in that position with skin-tight trousers?

God, I would love to see Arthur in hoop earrings, ostrich feathers and decked with live animal accessories (parrot and monkey BOTH). If you were to sketch such a thing, I would surely write something ridiculous to go with it.
