motetus: (star wars pt / master kenobi)

A few months ago I made a silly little comment to [livejournal.com profile] the_little_owl about the best way to organise a horse, Ewan and Liam. Before I knew it, she'd bullied me into drawing the damn thing - though she did kindly agree to draw her own Merlin-crossover version, which was so awesome that I very nearly gave up on my half-finished attempt.

Mine is a bit of an stupid Star Wars AU where Obi-Wan is a bounty hunter (a pretty crap one, due to his ethics and compassion being slightly higher than your average bounty hunter) and Qui-Gon is a Jedi on the run from the Empire. Bounty hunter Obi-Wan thinks his stubborn captive's argumentative ways are rather cute now, but in about 10 minutes he'll probably start thinking about selling him to the next passing tribe of Jawas. Chances of Obi-Wan not shagging his prisoner and handing him over for a reward are slim. The eopie swears to look for a new job first thing in the morning.

See, this is why I should never be allowed to write fanfiction.

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] the_little_owl for sorting out my mistakes, and Ralph McQuarrie for not suing me for stealing being very heavily influenced by his Tatooine concept art. Loads of things that are off with this painting, but it is probably the most complicated scene I've ever tried. Must keep pushing myself to draw stuff outside of my comfort zone more often instead of countless portraits of people staring blankly into space.

And of course he'll shag him ;oP

It's gorgeous. Love the colors and the expressions on their faces! Plus I love the idea for your Star Wars AU!

This is fantastically drawn and the eopie's face with eyes rolling, ha. I'm enjoying how Qui-Gon is still struggling and how Obi-Wan is just sooooo smugly victorious. When those suns go down, there'll be action aplenty. Unless the suns are rising, in which there'll be an entire day of UST.

this is wonderful-- I love the details both of the background and of the characters, eopie included. Based on the way they are looking at each other, the boyz will be shagging within the hour.

Great texture, great color, great bounty hunter look for Obi-Wan. I sort of love that eopie, and, not gonna lie, I'd totally read that fic.

Yay, you've made it! And it turned out fine! I love the details you added: Qui-Gon's frayed tunics and the tear in his trousers look as if there was quite a fight until Obi-Wan somehow managed to overpower him. Perhaps some shagging happend already? Without a story we'll never know ... ;>)
And smug Obi-Wan clutching Qui's saber! Ha!

As for drawing stuff outside the comfort zone, I agree! Your portraits are great and I do adore them (especially Captain Kai, the Gaul in chains, and the morose Roman lady in red), but imagine all the stuff you could draw, too, if you added more background: a brawl in the cantina, some Qui/Obi action taking place in a wide landscape or a huge space ship hangar...

I'm happy with our beta-cooperation in this. Please feel free to unleash more bunnies on me. And I'm sorry for damaging your motivation. I never meant to do such a thing :>(

This is awesome, Zo. Wow! I don't get all the details all Star Wars fans might pick up but I do love the details in the drawing. Like the torn pants and the curve in the sand that I can only conclude were his feet dragging in the sand in protest to being held prisoner :) Excellent work. You definitely should explore things outside of your comfort zone more often, I agree. You always make me want to watch the movies again when I see your drawings.

Aaaand the Z delivers again! Marvellous work! Armour-clad Obi-Wan is adorable (also, I love his choice of colour :), and yes, the way he's handling his captive's lightsaber is a foreshadowing of things to come, I bet.

Also, extra kudos for giving an eopie a facial expression - that's gotta be hard to do! :)

What a great picture, the story practically writes itself. I thought of Roger Dean straight away, those wonderful 70s prog rock album covers. Not that I remember them, you understand.
