motetus: (star wars pt / master kenobi)

A few months ago I made a silly little comment to [livejournal.com profile] the_little_owl about the best way to organise a horse, Ewan and Liam. Before I knew it, she'd bullied me into drawing the damn thing - though she did kindly agree to draw her own Merlin-crossover version, which was so awesome that I very nearly gave up on my half-finished attempt.

Mine is a bit of an stupid Star Wars AU where Obi-Wan is a bounty hunter (a pretty crap one, due to his ethics and compassion being slightly higher than your average bounty hunter) and Qui-Gon is a Jedi on the run from the Empire. Bounty hunter Obi-Wan thinks his stubborn captive's argumentative ways are rather cute now, but in about 10 minutes he'll probably start thinking about selling him to the next passing tribe of Jawas. Chances of Obi-Wan not shagging his prisoner and handing him over for a reward are slim. The eopie swears to look for a new job first thing in the morning.

See, this is why I should never be allowed to write fanfiction.

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] the_little_owl for sorting out my mistakes, and Ralph McQuarrie for not suing me for stealing being very heavily influenced by his Tatooine concept art. Loads of things that are off with this painting, but it is probably the most complicated scene I've ever tried. Must keep pushing myself to draw stuff outside of my comfort zone more often instead of countless portraits of people staring blankly into space.

What a great picture, the story practically writes itself. I thought of Roger Dean straight away, those wonderful 70s prog rock album covers. Not that I remember them, you understand.

I have more crazy AU story ideas that I have to draw as I can't write. At least it makes a change from borrowing other people's characters and abusing them in Photoshop.

I have no idea what you're talking about, old lady.
