Alphabet challenge: V

Here you are, my dearest swcajolings! Het and suggestive vegetables - I hope you know that I wouldn't draw this kind of stuff for just anyone, and that there had so better be fic for this.

(okay okay, I'll admit it was actually SO MUCH FUN. Sorry all you Qui/Obi shippers, the awesomeness of this pairing can't be denied)

V is for... Vegetables
Qui-Gon/Tahl, not work-safe



Hands. WHAT ARE HANDS? I think I've given up fretting over them now and accepted that while they're improving and I don't hate them that much any more, my skill with them is always going to be lagging behind everything else.

Also, two observations about how I paint that amuse me:

1. Several years ago I thought that the way to paint impressive stuff was to use a million different photoshop layers, download as many fancy custom brushes as your computer can hold, and give yourself RSI trying to make every colour blend beautifully into the next. Now I paint on only two layers, use nothing but the default hard round brush, and am as sloppy as I like. AND IT LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER. Wow Zoe, that only took you what, 5 years to work out?

2. I collect a whole load of references, use them for the sketch, and then I'm all "yeah whatever, I know what I'm doing now" and ignore them for the hard painting part. I'm not quite sure this is such a good idea as I think it is.

I am so in love with this pairing/ this picture/ you for painting this. I especially love that Qui is fixated on Tahl and the carrot, whereas Tahl totally knows how awesome and hilarious the whole situation is.

1. All those PS brushes and layers can really be a crutch and impediment to properly learning to paint. That being said, my last Alphabet pic totally had like 12 layers, but that was for coloring lots of clean shapes rather than painting.

P.s. I have 3 or 4 ideas kicking around for Y but I think I'm going to abandon them in favor of some Qui/Tahl based off the original idea you mentioned for your V. I figure it would be appropriate for my last Alphabet pic.

Qui and Tahl are just so cute together! The look on Tahl's face, priceless. She knows that peeling the carrot would take away its more ... useful ... ridges. Plus, the basket has wicket looking marrows *?* and some lovely eggplants, for the truly adventurous.

This turned out lovely! I love the colours, Tahl's grin, and there is improvement with the hands. And I'll bet Qui_gon hasn't realized yet what his lady is up to. There should be some plant!porn story to go with this picture.
