...one very small and soft and sharp bundle of fluff and claws. Everyone, meet Nimue, [livejournal.com profile] goblin_dae's little kitten mistress (she is so whipped). God, she is the most adorable thing ever, and it's very lucky for her that she is because I wouldn't have tolerated her using my hands and feet as claw-and-teeth-sharpening material if she wasn't. I would have smuggled her home with me and let her trash my apartment and make me incapable of ever doing anything productive for the next 18 or so years, but Goblin's bag checks are very thorough.

Look at that face!

She may be a little terror inside, but she's pathetically frightened of the outside. This is her WHY ARE YOU SUBJECTING ME TO THIS HORROR, HUMAN? look.

She is also rather petrified of... grass.

Forgetting for a moment that when the harness is on she's supposed to act like we've broken her spine and crushed her hind legs. Truly the biggest drama queen you will ever meet.

I'm not quite sure what she was looking at here. Possibly our internet browsing history.

Being a kitten is the most exhausting job ever.

Oh yeah, you guys remember that post I made about a month ago where I rambled for a bit about the mphil and the experiment I needed to work in order to confirm the interaction between my two proteins? IT WORKED. I HAVE AWESOME DATA OR SO POST-DOC TELLS ME. You have no idea how excited I am about this - one postive result can get ripped apart in the viva, but two makes me so much more confident about things (and hey, could possibly mean a publication eventually). Oh hell, now I have to write it all up for the thesis. Next week's post: "Oh god, god, god, I don't understand anything HELP ME, WHAT DO ALL THESE NUMBERS MEAN?"

Congrats on the proteins! (Just don't forget to add the protein!porn to your data ;>)
And the cat is cute. I second but last pic is right for the LOLcats :>)

Of course, how could I forget the protein porn! I have to give my examiners some excitement in between the NMR and the SPR. Can't have them dozing off halfway through.

Nimue is very cute, though clearly hasn't figured out cuddly yet! You talk some wonderful photographs of her, really capturing her spirit. :) I love the third one down in b/w.

And well done on the success of your experiment. You must be quite chuffed! :)

Oh, she's cuddly! Just er... when she's asleep. And I suppose she cuddles with her claws - I'm sure it's her way of showing affection. She loves me!

Kitten smitten. Hahaha.

Yay for co-operating proteins!!

GAZE UPON MY THESIS PROGRESS AND FEEL GUILTY ABOUT YOURS.

...actually, it is so far only 3 pages of the easy Materials and Methods stuff and a handful of notes, so barely started. I have a feeling that by the time I come to the Discussion part (I HATE THE DISCUSSION) I will give up and copy-paste Chantefable's Protein Porn fic into it instead. How does one correctly Harvard reference an LJ entry?

Kitty's response would probably be the faintly disgusted "...what the hell is wrong with you, stupid babbling human?" look that I got all weekend. She's so rude!

WOOK AT DAT WIDDLE FAAAAAACE!!! N'AWWWWW ♥ YOU GO GET THAT SCARY GRASS, BABY LION!

Yeaaaaaaaah, your proteins Got It Onnnn :D So, does that mean they crystallised like you wanted them to? HUZZAH FOR AWESOME DATA (and for your hypothetical 'Nature' article ;D)

BABY TIGER. LOOK AT THOSE LITTLE STRIPES. She also has an eyepatch and one of the hind legs has markings a bit like ninja gauntlet spikes. NINJA PIRATE KITTY!

Oh ha, no. This was something else, the crystals I will find out about tomorrow, this was the other stuff. If crystals work I can tell my supervisor HI SUPERVISOR GO SOLVE THE STRUCTURE AND GET BACK TO ME WITH PRETTY PRETTY PICTURES. But I do not think they will work because scientific research has destroyed all my optimism. :D

Sheer cuteness. And has she really got orange eyes? My cat has similar colouring but is a green eyed version.

Yay for the science. I know they always say a null result is important too, but we all know they are lying.

Date: 2011-09-19 10:24 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] motetus.livejournal.com
I think her eyes have just changed colour recently. I'd say they're more brown, but they do have quite a hint of orange and could still be changing. I've seen some cats, especially ginger ones, with spectacular striking orange eyes. Cats with green eyes are gorgeous too.

Null results do not get you fame and fortune and hot women. Neither will my positive results but um, my supervisor might be nice to me this week? :P

OMG! She's so adorably cute!

Yeah, my cats were cute as kittens, too. And then they grew up. Anakin is lucky he's still cute and has that 'how can you punish this face' look, else he'd be swimming with the fishes instead of eating them. I'm sure his sister would agree. I yell at her for something I'm sure she must have done when, clearly, HE did it.

Aww, I want to see photos of your kitties now! Oh yes, they definitely have that "you couldn't possibly be angry with me, look at how fluffy and adorable I am!" look perfected. If cats weren't such cute-looking creatures, I doubt they would last long as pets.

The grass thing is hilarious. It's a complete reversal of character - instead of running about like a maniac and clawing ALL THE THINGS, she refused to let go of my lap and shivered dramatically. At least it meant I got a brief cuddle out of her!

It's a good thing I live in a rental flat and can't have animals, or I would probably be out now buying a half-a-dozen kittens for myself. I did have a little ginger thing for a couple of weeks once, before we found him a home with friends, and he was the complete opposite of this one - loved nothing other than cuddling and sneezing onto your face. Now he is massive and battle-scarred, but still such an utter sweetheart who adores his much-older girlfriend (who used to beat him relentlessly as a kitten). :D

Ninja pirate kitten yay! *giggle* Brucie and Dukie say hi and not to worry about the silly harness, the humans will get tired of trying to put you in one eventually and then you can steal it for your late night cat-bondage sessions.

Aw, daft old cat. I think this one is just scared of the outdoors because everything is so much bigger than her (seriously, she's not as tiny as she used to be, but she's still ever so little). I'm sure once she's older she'll be terrorising the neighbourhood.
