Well, almost - there are three more stories/artwork due (one of which is my second dinosaurs drawing), but I'm fully confident that they'll all be completed within the next couple of weeks. And it was a success! All the artwork ended up with stories written for them, we had no problem finding pinch-hitters when people dropped out (thank you [livejournal.com profile] sineala and [livejournal.com profile] chantefable!), and there are some really fantastic stories and art that have come out of it. Most of this success is however down to [livejournal.com profile] awarrington, who did a great deal of the behind-the-scenes work, and took over organising/emailing everyone during the crucial posting period while I was a little swamped at work. If it weren't for her, everything would have been a complete shambles, and things would possibly have been set on fire.

In other fandom news, I have teamed up with [livejournal.com profile] bauble for [livejournal.com profile] inception_bang to illustrate her supernatural/horror story in which Arthur is a demon Eames meets in dreams, and Arthur teaches Eames how to forge in return for being brought into the waking world. I am ridiculously excited about this, because it'll give me an opportunity to draw things that are darker and less fluffy than what I've been coming up with lately (WHY ARE THERE SO MANY STUPID PASTEL COLOURS IN THIS WIP?). And because the last handful of times I've tried to draw Arthur/Eames they've both ended up fully clothed and standing several feet apart from each other, I am determined to make sure at least one drawing has physical contact and nudity and possibly sex, but I am not promising anything. You will draw nudity, and you will like it, Zoe!

And in the land of PhDs, I have a) been officially declared by my supervisor to be the most manliest member of our 4 male, 2 female lab (I do hope he meant manliest brain), and b) become incredibly fond of one of our new PhD students. He may have an entirely unironic and unashamed love for Twilight (no, really) and Pokemon, but he does have an excellent knowledge of every episode of the X-Files and fetches me afternoon pastries. What an adorable little creature!

I am going to Istanbul on Monday for 4 days! There will be baklava and bazaar shopping trips for shiny things and fish sandwiches and OLD ROMAN SHIT and gelato! \o/

I am SO CLOSE to being able to send this off for beta! And then I can read the other stories!

ISTANBUL omg, will you post PICTURES? Especially of Old Roman Shit. And, uh, anything from about 600 CE, because, you know, Prosper and Cynan adventures need BACKGROUNDS.

EEEE DINOSAURS. I am so looking forward to reading about them - when I decided to draw them I thought for a moment "ha, I wonder if this will tempt Carmarthen" and now you have written LOTS of words about dinosaurs! I hope you know you also have to come up with a title for that drawing too, because I am rubbish with titles.

I will post pictures! Especially the Roman stuff! One of my favourite things the last time I went was the Basilica Cistern with its huge red-lit Roman columns and huge creepy Medusa head stones... yes, Roman stuff is the best stuff.

The Medusa heads! Like this one! I loved that old as the cistern is, the medusa heads are actually recycled in building it...

I know I keep saying this is ALMOST done, and then it's...not. I counted and I think have 5.5 more scenes, but WHO KNOWS. This is going to be the longest thing I have ever finished and I will never be able to put dinosaurs in another fandom again. *sob*

Also, dude, I don't have a title for the STORY. What makes you think I can title your drawing? (You could just keep "In a Land of Dinosaurs!" :-P)

I must admit, I am fond of In A Land Of Dinosaurs, but then I did always like cheesy B movie titles.

I am afraid I will not be posting pictures after all. Either the camera battery or battery charger has died, and I didn't want to hunt down a camera shop here and fork out for a new one of each when I'm planning on selling the slr soon. But! I did find and photograph with wife's Blackberry a couple of depictions of what the Hagia Sophia looked like about a mere 60 years before Prosper and Cynan visit... :D

i am excited as well! Apparently I have missed writing creepy, unsettling stories in the past few years!

I love what you've come up with already and am pretty pumped to see what ideas you have for the rest of the story.

I now consider it part of my mission to see you draw something with nudity. My goals: they are highbrow.

I like all the ideas in your last email! I'm going to ponder them over my week away, and maybe hammer out the few of my own until they make a bit more sense. All these things I want to draw, and that's knowing only the very basic outline of your story!

I do hope you are not going to make me draw penises. Terrible, terrible things occur when I try to do that. Terrible things involving kittens.

I am now both disturbed and intrigued by this talk of kittens penises.

But no pressure on the peen front. I am just as pleased by asses :D

Yay! Congratulations on completing modding your first reverse bang. You did a fantastic job organising it all and pulling on your experience to make it all happen with virtually no hiccups. I think "most of this success" being down to me is a major exaggeration, though. Really the brunt of the work was done by you. :) I hope to have the story (now well over 30k) to my beta next week and am counting on her slashing large chunks out of it.

Have a wonderful time in Istanbul clambering around ancient stuff and getting lost in bazaars, and hope you're good at haggling hard! As for baklava....om nom nom! :)

COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU. No really, you truly did hold it together during the crucial, most important part, and for that you deserve all the credit. Am looking forward to reading yours - what I'm most chuffed about is how many long stories came out of this reverse bang! I've just loaded up the rest onto my Kindle and will read my way through them on holiday.

I am glad your Reverse Big Bang was a success, even though I did not contribute in any way to that. Yay for awesome pinch-hits!

I want to pinch your PhD creatures cheeks.

ISTANBUL! OMG! Have fun! Eat all of the delicious things! Take lots and lots pictures!

I hope you end up going back to your bodyswap story eventually and finishing it, because it sounded amazing!

Half the time I want to pinch Adorable PhD Student's cheeks too, and the other half I'm threatening to beat him for playing Christmas music in fucking November and claiming that he's too young to have watched any of the Monty Python films. Also, he loves his hibiscus tea and Sex and the City. Yeah, don't think beating him in the manliness stakes required much effort...

I am going to do all those things! Especially the eating things, though this time I'm staying away from dodgy-looking chicken kebabs...

Is Adorable PhD student a teenager? Because there are wee teenagers at my dance school bonding over Monty Python...(granted, over the fact that apparently none of their other peers have seen it, but STILL. It's not like the DVDs are hard to find).

He's 23! And really, I think the excuse "I'm too young for Monty Python" only works if you're aged 12 or younger. I will fix this, eventually. Though he keeps insisting I watch Twilight in return. Argh.
